Below are the forms and instructions to help you complete your EAP application.

NOTE: You must have attended an Information Session (Step 1 - Student Profile) and Application Workshop (Step 2- Student Pre-Advising Profile). You can complete these two steps at MyUCR Abroad.

APPLICATION ELEMENTS

  1. UCR APPLICATION COVER PAGE:

    Please order your application according to the pink application cover page. This page will be collected on application due date.

  2. ON-LINE APPLICATION FORM:

    Complete all of the tabs. Hit the submit button. Print one copy and sign on page 3 of the application, noting the withdrawal deadline for your program. You must use your legal name on all form as it is shown on your passport or passport application. See sample application for additional help.

    TIPS:

    • Write down your username and password. Do not lose them! You will need both to re-access your application later!

    • UC Intercampus Transfer: If you plan to attend another UC campus for a quarter, other than summer term (including UCDC), or plan to transfer to another UC campus permanently, indicate the term and campus.

    • Current/Projected Course Work:
      • List courses you are enrolled in currently as well as for each remaining term before EAP departure.

      • Give your best estimate on future courses and DO NOT include your planned courses for the term(s) abroad.

      • Be sure to calculate the unit total(s) carefully using the provided sample as a guide.

  3. TRANSCRIPTS:

    Order one official transcript from the UCR Registrar's Office in Student Services Building or on GROWL. Open the sealed envelope and make copies as needed.Transcripts printed from the web are not acceptable for any program.

    TIP:

    A UCR transcript costs $8.00 and it will take 10 working days to process unless a �RUSH� request is done. A rush order can be processed the next working day after receipt of the request and costs an additional $10.00.

  4. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:

    Select the correct prompt above based on your program type.

  5. LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION FORM(S):

    UCR requires that all applicants acquire at least one letter of recommendation. Allow your recommender(s) a minimum of 2 weeks to process the form. REMEMBER to thank the recommender, he or she is doing you a favor!

    The following countries and programs require 2 recommendations:

  6. ACADEMIC PLANNING FORM:

    Select the correct form above based on your College.

  7. PASSPORT COPY:

    A valid passport copy is required. If you do not have a valid passport, a copy of passport application receipt must be submitted. Be sure that your passport copies clearly show your photo, passport number, signature and expiration date.

    ALL students must have a valid (non-expired) passport to travel abroad. If you do not have a passport, APPLY FOR ONE NOW! Allow 8 weeks for processing. Your passport must be valid for the entire length of your projected stay abroad and not expire for at least 6 months AFTER the completion of your EAP program. If you need to renew, DO SO NOW!

    Non-U.S. citizens: Contact the consulate of your host country NOW to determine your visa requirements. The visa process may take several months longer than for U.S. citizens. If necessary, contact the Immigration and Naturalization Service to extend the expiration date on your re-entry permit.

  8. PROGRAM-SPECIFIC FORM(S): Required ONLY if a link is included in the instruction tab on MyEAP Application. Such forms include host institution applications and processing forms.

  9. LANGUAGE EVALUATION FORM
  10. DEPARTMENT PRE-APPROVAL TO EXTEND (DPA) : Refer to the instruction tab above to determine if you must complete this form. If the DPA is required, you must complete the form even if you do not wish to extend.This form requires a meeting with your Academic Advisor if you are considering the extension option.

    SUBMITTING YOUR EAP APPLICATION TO IEC

    • Arrange and paperclip the ORIGINAL set and each of the 4 copied sets of the application documents according to the order on the UCR Application Cover Page.

    • Several forms require meeting with other individuals. Plan ahead to schedule appointments with others.

    • Submit your application to IEC by 4:30 p.m. on your deadline day. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. If you would like to submit your application early, note that we can accept it on Mondays between 3-5pm only. Only complete applications will be accepted.

    Allow 15-20 minutes to submit your application, as it will need to be reviewed for completeness. You will receive written notification of the outcome of your application by the end of the quarter in which you apply. GOOD LUCK!
